Summer time. Watercolor. What else do you need? We got sun, we got gorgeous views, we got paper, brushes and cute little tins of color! Let’s party! This a three Day, Saturday through Monday, multi-level course. We will move quickly through basic color theory, then into material tips, then do a deep dive into technique experimentation. Each day the instructor will start the day with an art history masterwork lecture, then move on to demonstrate various watercolor techniques.
Water color is famous for being really heavy on the “tricks.” In its purest form, it is a spontaneous and intuitive medium, but generations of artists have created all kinds of innovative ways to work with it. We will explore as many of those as we can both in the studio and in the field. Class will be split between a morning and afternoon session for a total of five hours each day. There will be plenty of time to explore the region or continue to paint on your own. The instructor can make reservations and lead the group out for dinner and drinks Saturday night if desired. There will be a dinner Saturday night at the instructor’s home which is included in the price of the class. This is not specifically a landscape class, it is a WATERCOLOR class, but field trips will be included…because we got sun, views, paper, brushes and cute little tins of color!
About the instructor: Earl Schofield is a veteran art educator at the Dublin School who is a museum collected, nationally exhibiting painter.
